Rev. Dr. Cory Irwin, Ed.D.
Research-Design Consultant
The Rev. Cory Michael Irwin, Ed.D. is an Episcopal priest of the Diocese of Indianapolis serving at St. Paul’s, New Albany and St. Paul’s, Jeffersonville. . In this role with Faith-filled Families, Cory collaborates with initiative staff members to identify the best ways to gather and interpret information gleaned from our partners.
Prior to ordination, Cory spent 15 years working in K-12 settings. He started teaching in a parochial school as part of the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), a joint service-learning program between the University of Notre Dame and AmeriCorps. Through ACE he developed an appreciation for the dual role that church-affiliated schools play in not only educating students in the faith, but also in supporting families to deepen their own discipleship journeys.
Following his time with ACE, Cory taught high school English and was an administrator in public secondary schools.
In addition to his work in K-12 schools, Cory has also:
- served as an adjunct instructor in the School of Education at Indiana University-Bloomington
- served on the Committee on Teacher Education, which offered policy and practice guidance for Indiana University’s nationally ranked teacher education programs.

Cory’s research experience includes quantitative surveys of school administrators, qualitative field research supporting the Collegeville Institute’s Creating Lives of Meaning and Purpose initiative, and an exploration of Palestinian education and culture in Israel and Jordan as part of a Fulbright-Hays group study.
Cory earned his doctorate in 2018 at Indiana University-Bloomington through a dual degree MS-Ed.D. program between the Department of Management at the Kelley School of Business and the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the School of Education.
He has earned additional degrees from Virginia Theological Seminary (M.Div., 2024) and the University of Notre Dame (M.Ed., Secondary Education, 2008; B.A., American Studies, 2005).
