Rev. Dr. Cory Irwin, Ed.D.

MEMBER INFORMATION

Position:

Product Manager

The Rev. Cory Michael Irwin, Ed.D. is an Episcopal priest of the Diocese of Indianapolis serving at St. Paul’s, New Albany and St. Paul’s, Jeffersonville. He concurrently works as the Research-Design Consultant for the Faith-filled Families Initiative. In this role, Cory collaborates with initiative staff members on the best ways to gather and interpret information from our partners to support our aim of resourcing fruitful faith practices for families with preschool-aged children.

Prior to ordination, Cory spent 15 years working in K-12 settings. He started teaching in a parochial school as part of the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), a joint service-learning program between the University of Notre Dame and AmeriCorps. Through ACE he developed an appreciation for the dual role that church-affiliated schools play in not only educating students in the faith but also supporting families in deepening their own discipleship journeys. After ACE he went on to serve as a high school English teacher and administrator in public secondary schools. Cory’s tenure as an administrator focused on faculty development, improving school culture and organizational development practices, and relationship-building with students, families, and the community.

Rev. Dr. Cory Irwin, Ed.D.

In addition to his work in K-12 schools, Cory served as an adjunct instructor in the School of Education at Indiana University-Bloomington. There he taught courses on school-community relations, which helped aspiring school leaders develop a deeper responsiveness to the needs of their students’ families and communities. He also served on the Committee on Teacher Education, which offered policy and practice guidance for IU’s nationally-ranked teacher education programs. Beyond his work with the Faith-filled Families Initiative, Cory’s research experience includes quantitative surveys of school administrators, qualitative field research supporting the Collegeville Institute’s Creating Lives of Meaning and Purpose initiative, and an exploration of Palestinian education and culture in Israel and Jordan as part of a Fulbright-Hays group study.

Cory earned his doctorate in 2018 at Indiana University-Bloomington through a dual degree MS-Ed.D. program between the Department of Management at the Kelley School of Business and the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the School of Education. His dissertation research, which focused on public school superintendent’s strategic response to interdistrict open enrollment policies, was funded in part through an award from AASA, The School Superintendents Association. He has earned additional degrees from Virginia Theological Seminary (MDiv, 2024) and the University of Notre Dame (M.Ed., Secondary Education, 2008;  BA, American Studies, 2005).
